| Can you recommend procedures, chemicals, and pads to save time cleaning new or old rubber floor tile in a auto dealership? |

The obvious time saver is an auto-scrubber, properly sized to move around easily in the area you have to clean. Use a back pack vacuum for the dry pick up rather than a dust mop or broom. Rubber tile, new or old, cleans up best if it is lightly sealed. See the tile manufacturer’s website for approved finishes and procedures. Avoid stripping and other operations that will remove the plasticizers, natural wax and cause the tile to lose resiliency or color. Tile that is embossed (two levels) may require a scrub brush to reach the lower level of the emboss. A pad will only hit the high areas. Lynn E. Krafft, ICAN/ATEX Associate Editor lekrafft@juno.com
