Question

I'm a subcontractor and would like to know how much I should charge to scrub and buff a 19,000 square feet store using a 26 in. NSS auto floor scrubber and a 27 in. buffer. The contractor is supplying all the equipment and cleaner. I'll also sweep after buffing. What should I charge for this job by the month?

Answer

A 26 autoscrubber will cover 19,000 sq. ft. in about 1.75 hours and a 27 inch 1500 RPM buffer will take about the same time. Sweeping with a 36 dust mop will also run about 1.5 hours. Basically, on paper, it looks like a 5 to 6 hour job.
Now the question is, how much per hour do you want to earn? Can you vac the floor faster than using dustless sweeping? Is the water source and dump area close by? Will the job be slowed down by stuff in the way? Is the equipment operating efficiently or is it old, abused junk? Do you buy pads and detergent or are they there?
We still lack a lot of information to come to a solid figure!
