| When a VCT floor needs fixing after it was waxed, does entire floor need to be stripped or can you just strip tiles that are affected? |

If you are careful with the process you can scrub or strip a small area vs the entire floor or room. Here are some tips: 1. Tape off the area to be worked on with 2 or 4-inch painters tape and put cardboard around it to prevent tracking and to give you clean demarcation line around the work area. 2. Use very little moisture. Light mop or spray on your solution. Don't forget about proper dwell time and agitation. 3. Use a tarp, cardboard or entry matting as a staging area and to keep your equipment, mops and pails, etc. to prevent drips and tracking on the area you are not intending to work on. Wipe wheels and edges, have several rags available for this purpose. Sloppy workmanship is what will kill this process. Go slow, take you time and keep everything clean. 4. Rinse well and rinse it again. 5. Apply a couple coats of finish and wait 48 hours before burnishing a slightly larger area or the entire floor to feather the old to the new. 6. With practice you'll refine the process and get better at controlling the mess and blending the old with the new. Best of luck, Bill Griffin, President www.cleaningconsultants.com Cell-206-849-0179 |
