| I am trying to determine industry productivity standards for patient unit cleaning in an acute care hospital.
By way of example, we have a 9200 SF inpatient unit that consists of 28 beds, ( 21 Private Rooms and 4 Semi Private).
I am trying to establish a benchmark relative to staffing models.

Answer # 3: For what most departments perform in a regular patient room, daily cleaning takes about 12~15 minutes for a private or about 15~18 minutes for a semi-private room. Ralph Rice, President Housekeeping Systems Inc. P-314-348-1806 www.hsipro.com info@hsipro.com
Answer # 2 The Official ISSA 447 Cleaning Times book lists over 60 tasks directly related to healthcare facility cleaning tasks and hundreds of others that are related. Perhaps you will find that the productivity times you seek are already established. These times are promoted by ISSA, IEHA and Janitor University. ICAN Member
Answer # 1. Review previous posts in the bidding and estimating section of the ATEX site for more info. As with all types of bidding and estimating there are many variables that must/should be considered when calculating ACCURATE productivity rates, staffing levels and bids. With the limited information you have provided there is no way to give you any realistic numbers for reliable benchmarking. Contract other similiar facilities in your area to see if you can develope a working relationship with them to share benchmarking information.
