Question

I have noticed custodians leaving their dust mops on the floor while attending to another job. Would that leave an oily stain on the floor, causing future slips and falls?

Answer

If the dust mop is improperly treated, this could be a real concern. However, spraying the treatment onto the mophead, placing it into a plastic bag, and letting it sit overnight should allow the treatment time to penetrate the fibers and be held by them.
Avoid overspraying the mophead and placing the treated head into service prematurely and you should have no problem with oily residue on the floor from mop head contact.
