| I recently took on a job in a club that has a wood floor, which they asked me to do. They said they have it "stripped and waxed" 1-2 times per year. I realize wood floors need special care, such as cleaners and finish, etc. This floor is real wood and is waxed, not polyurethaned or sealed.
I have looked all over for some reference material. Nothing. I'd like some ideas on what the professionals use for professionally cleaning and waxing a wood floor. Procedures? Products? I see a million articles on sanding and sealing. Nothing on waxing. Can you help?

Years ago I used a linseed oil based cleaner with steel wool and then applied a modified wax, but this turned out to be a high maintenance project. Whenever I have observed this process being used in food service settings, the floors have always looked unkempt. I doubt that you would want to clean and recondition the floors daily, so I checked with my source Fred Bunegar at Hillyard and he gave the following advice: "The reason for the absence of training materials on stripping and waxing unsealed wood floors is that it is no longer recommended. I would recommend a dry screen sanding of the floor with 120 grit screen and topcoating with a high solids finish. Stripper could damage the floor since it has not been sealed properly."
