Question

How many man-hours does it take to clean 200 sq feet of general cleaning? Walls, dorms, bathrooms. Is 200 sq. ft. per hour the norm for 1 man to clean?

Answer

The rate of 200 sq. ft. per man-hour belongs to post-construction clean-up and similar projects where major soiling is encountered and production slows to a crawl.
For normal maintenance cleaning performed daily (or every other day in light-resoiling areas) the cleaning rate should be anywhere from 2000 to 4000 sq. ft. per man-hour. Some are moving at a even faster pace, but generally only with a well-coordinated team cleaning arrangement.
At any rate, 200 sq. ft. per hour is well below the norm. You should be able to clean much more efficiently than that.
