Question

Any advice on how to take salt residue off the carpets and mats?

Answer

Salt dissolves readily in water.
The mats can be hung over a rack and hosed down until the water runs clear. Vacuum them or let them drip dry.
The carpets will need hot water rinse extraction. Use enough rinse and vac passes to dissolve the salt and remove the residue. Concentrate on the entry areas and traffic lanes.
The use of an acid rinse agent in the rinse tank may be a good way to leave the carpets on the neutral side and facilitate the rinsing.
