We have rubber stair treads on the stairways in our building. After we clean them, we would like to apply a finish to help preserve them. Is there a recommended product to accomplish this and not present a safety hazard during wet conditions?

Check with the manufacturer as most do not recommend applying finish to their products. On the matter of slippage, a finished tile should not be more of a hazard than an unfinished one. However, add enough moisture from ice and snow and even bare concrete can become slick. For safety, it is a good practice to use lengthy walk-off matting on any stair approach where moisture is evident. Removing it from the feet before they hit the stairs and the slip problem will be lessened considerably.
