Question

How do we reduce the cost involved in providing air conditioning to the facility? What is the requirement for AC per person in a facility?

Answer

The primary means of reducing air conditioning cost is to provide good insulation in the facility to prevent the loss of the cooled air by either radiation or convection. Keep doors and windows closed. Use air lock entries. Control outside air exchange. Insulate outside walls and the roof. Insulated glass is an option, if you have a lot of glass in the structure.
The AC requirements of a facility depend on the number of occupants and their activity, and what ever other interior heat sources that must be accounted for.
Your best source of specific help will be with a qualified air conditioning specialist in your area. Look in a local business directory or go on the Internet and do some research regarding building codes related to air changes per hour or check with the ASHRAE group at: www.ashrae.org
